Elementary students from three schools in Barangays Simlong, Pinamucan Ibaba, and Pinamucan Proper in Batangas City joined the Fire Safety Awareness Summit on March 19, 2019, organized by JG Summit Petrochemicals Group (JGSPG) in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection-Batangas. The activity, which coincides with the celebration of Fire Prevention Month, is designed to raise awareness amongst students and teachers on fire hazards, fire safety procedures, and efficient emergency response in the event of an emergency fire situation.
During the training, students were taught about the most important element of fire safety—prevention. Fire officials said, the best way to fight fire is to prevent it from happening. They also reminded participants to always be aware and have presence of mind in order to avoid the dangers brought about by fire.
A total of 750 participants attended the summit.
