The training session was hosted by JG Summit Petrochemicals Group and the Philippine Red Cross
Following its recent training sessions on road safety and fire safety awareness, the JG Summit Petrochemicals Group now turned its attention to sharing with its host communities crucial life-saving information in the event of a medical emergency.
In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, JGSPG organized its latest CSR activity, an Emergency First Aid Training Course for 30 residents of barangays Simlong, Pinamucan Ibaba, and Pinamucan Proper, on September 20, 2019, in Barangay Libjo, Batangas City. The 8-hour training session showed the residents how to administer basic first aid and also taught them a few safety tips, precautionary measures, and common life-saving lessons.
According to the Philippine Red Cross, common medical emergencies encountered in daily life include heart attacks, cardiac arrest, foreign-body airway obstruction, bleeding, shock, and fainting, among others. To improve the victims’ chances of survival or to prevent further injury, administering the proper first aid is vital.
JGSPG hopes that after having accomplished their basic first aid training, the participants will share their knowledge with their families and other residents in the host communities, in order to respond better to unexpected incidents. The session could even inspire some residents to pursue more comprehensive medical training in the hopes of attaining first aid certification.
