Amid the onset of the scorching summer months, JG Summit Petrochemicals Group (JGSPG) heeded the call from Brgy. Pinamucan Ibaba officials concerned about their community’s water security.
Through a resolution, the Sangguniang Barangay of Pinamucan Ibaba requested new water supply equipment to ensure the continuous operation of the Pinamucan Ibaba Rural Waterworks and Sanitation Association. The community-based organization maintains a deep well that provides water for almost five hundred families in the barangay. According to barangay officials, the well’s motor pump was in need of replacement.
As a way of expressing its continued support to host communities, JGSPG gladly granted the request and donated a new motor pump, pipes, and other accessories to the barangay on March 22, 2019. Members of the association and JGSPG’s Community Relations team were present during the turn over ceremony. The activity coincided with the observance of World Water Day.
Weather bureau PAGASA has said that the public may experience reduced water supply due to the dry spell stemming from El Niño. If not properly addressed, it may endanger the health of millions of Filipinos. In the latest available update on El Niño released on March 22, PAGASA warned that numerous provinces, including Batangas, would have below normal rainfall levels in March, April, May and June. In light of this situation, the donation of water supply equipment could not have come at a better time.
